Bringing Baklava to the Big Banana

As a new Mediterranean-themed restaurant with a menu that reads like a love letter to the vibrant flavours of the region, Coffs Harbour’s Esmé Bar & Kitchen needed a brand that instantly evoked the best of those ancient cultures – but still felt contemporary and upscale.

When the Esmé team called us to join them, we jumped to our feet, smashed a plate and cried, “Opa!” Our starting point came from the Esmé chefs themselves, weaving together a magical mix of Greek, Italian, and Moroccan influences. By finding our muse in the Cyrillic alphabet and creating a clean, simple word mark, we developed a bold and utterly unique brand that is timelessly Mediterranean, but undeniably modern.

The client loved it from the word “Kudos!” – embracing it wholly and applying the brand to everything from wine glasses to external signage, coasters and menus.
